Default crx keeps blowing coils.

hey guys, my coil went out a few weeks ago so i took one off my other crx and it started right up. the car ran fine for about a week and blew this coil today.

my question is, what's causing my coil to blow? how do i fix it?

are you changin the ignitor or coil? Typically a surge of power from the coil to ignitor is what causes it to fail

it all started about a month ago. i was driving around and the car would randomly go dead. but then it'd start up immediately and i'd keep driving. then one day it went dead and just wouldn't give me any spark at all. so i swapped the distributor from my other crx and it fired up instantly. i drove around for about a week and today it just went dead while i was driving. luckily i was within walking distance of my house so i walked back and got an extra coil i had laying around. i put it in and the car started up but was stuttering. i managed to get the car on the road and got it up to 50 then it went dead and i was able to coast about 1/4 mile to my house and into my driveway.

so to answer your question, i swapped out the whole distributor. the one i put in came off another crx running perfect.

it seems like maybe the wiring is messed up but i don't even know where to start on diagnosing the wiring.
