Default Trans wont disengage

alright i bought a 89 civc hb with the stock d15b2 in it and it didnt run at first becuase the timing belt jumped some teeth. So i retimed it and it started right up.

so on to the tranny problem. At first the clutch cable was all out of wack so i adjusted it back and when i pressed the clutch in it engaged but wont disengage. i looked at the arm going to the throw out bearing and it was stuck up so i pushed it down (beat it down with a hammer) and it didnt come back up

I pulled the motor and took the trans off and the throw out bearing is fine i guess cuz it spins good so what exactly is it? any ideas

thanks

The throw up bearing has a spring attached to each side. Sometimes the ears will break off from one side. It will look fine and spin but will not work. It has happened to me twice. My only other guess is that your clutch cable was adjusted too much.

I agree it sounds like the arm that moves the throw-out bearing is sticking and needs cleaned and lubed,or the throw-out bearing is jamming on the shaft and needs lubed.

pull the release arm out of the trans. if you had to beat it down with a hammer then the damn thing is seizing up. gonna have to clean it a bit and lube it. also the spring on the TB could be damaged as well of course

its not gonna come out very easily. i had to use a prybar on the outer part of that arm and popped it out that way. i didnt yank on it, just put upward force on it while i wiggled it back and forth. the shaft had some corrosion so it was sticking
