Default 99 Accord EX transmission making jerking motion?

Hi all, I have a 99 Accord EX 6cyl. that has 95,000 miles on it. Lately over the past few months I've noticed that the trans has been making a jerking motion when engaging from park to reverse, or when gear changes occur(it doesn't seem to do the jerk in the higher gears). I've checked the fluid and it seems to be OK, the color is an orange/slightly dark orange. The pan was dropped about 10,000 miles ago and fluid replaced, don't know about the filter. I was tempted to take it to a shop and have the whole thing flushed, filter replaced, etc. I'm not completely inclined when it comes to mechanics but I live in an apartment complex and thus can't do work on it myself. I've started reading a lot of things about the 99 accords having AT problems and now I'm starting to worry because I sure as heck don't have the money to replace if it goes out.

So, my question is, is this something that sounds extremely serious? Will flushing everything do anything? And if it is going bad, I've read some things about having a manual trans installed instead of installing another AT. Is this a viable route or would it be more expensive? I get the feeling like some things would have to be jury-rigged since the car was set up with an AT at the factory.

Thanks for any input.

Drive it down to your mechanic and ask him to check to see if your rear motor mount is bad. They'll usually check this out for free.

I hadn't considered the motor mount, I'll have it checked. Another thing I didn't mention is that when the car is in park, and I shift it to reverse, there is about a 1/2 second or 1 second delay before you hear/feel the gear engage, and it's not as bad the harder I have the brake depressed. Would that still be a symptom of a bad motor mount or is that a tranny problem?

Hi, I just joined and cannot start a thread yet so I will post on this one.

I have a 1998 Accord V6, the transmission seems to be running rough. It shifts hard, especially in reverse (like when pulling out of park). I was told the fluid was changed before I got it a few years ago. When I check the fluid it is very dark, like oil. I have heard that changing the fluid when its already running bad could kill it? Any recommendations? Should I just do a tranny flush or put some additive in it? I was also told that in older models the cylinders (?) can be cleaned to make it run better, but this person wasn't sure about the new motors (he had an 88). Oh, and its got abt 220 K :-p

Thank for any help!

I work for a BMW/Mercedes mechanic who thinks its not the motor mounts. He suggested a tranny flush....
