Hi all. Just bought a 1997 Prelude with 153K miles, Auto transmission with the speed shifter. Pretty nice over all. Got it for $3800 in Phoenix. To me... it runs great. All of my buddies think it runs great except I am not getting the potential horsepower because of the tranny. After some Googling, the general consensus seems to be that this car came with a crappy tranny and everyone defaults to "convert it to 5spd." I have found a few threads for DIY, but such a task is beyond me and my friend is a a Honda fan and tinkers... but not sure if the task is up for him either. I was wondering if anyone recommends any performance shops in the Phoenix Metro area. I am not in a big hurry. I just spent my tax money on this car, so a tranny swap wont happen till next tax season. I can live with the AT for a year.
