99 auto trans into 96

99 auto trans into 96
My automatic is acting up. My car is a 96 and I found a 99 auto trans. Will it work in a 96 with The whole obd2b to a obd2a car?

It *should* work, they bolt up the same, sensors are the same so it should all work, EX transmissions are geared a little different than the others and the HXs are just flat out completely different and only work in an HX.
