99 acord ex engine into a 94
Hey guys/gals
I've gotta quick question. I've been searching google, but either i suck at it or really couldn't find answers. Basically, a friend of mine has a complete engine/tranny out of a 1999 accord ex, and we want to swap it in her 1994 ex, both cars are vtak.
I've thought about just using her intake manifold and all the obd1 stuff and bolting it to the newer engine. That way i can run that engine on her ecu/harness. Is this possible and is there anything i should know about this before we start. Also, i would have to use the obd1 distributor/injectors etc?
I'm not new to engine swapping/car building. I've swapped engines and built bmw's, but i've been out of the honda game for a few years, and haven't really kept up with it.
Thanks!

Thanks for the reply, i was pretty sure it was doable, just wanted to make sure.
So, the oil pump housing is different too? What about the motor mounts?

Just use your '94 Accord Motor mounts on the 99 F23 motor; it'll work. And about the oil pump, I don't know if the design is different or not but I do know that it's got a crank position sensor on the housing while the OBD1 94-95 Accords have it inside the distributor.
Swap manifolds, that's it. The 99 engine will have a crank sensor on the oil pump, but you can just zip tie that to to the wiring harness and not use it. It's a pretty straightforward swap.
OP, if you don't want to downgrade your IM you'll need the Rosko's 3-wire to 2-wire IACV adapter plate to retain your old 2-wire IACV setup cause your IACV connector won't plug in. You can get the adapter plate at: http://www.roskoracing.com/Euro_R_IACV_Adapter.html
Not to hate, but the SOHC F22/F23 SOHC engines don't really make much power naturally aspirated and don't have much potential in that arena unless changing internal parts or induction systems. The power gains from intake, header, exhaust, intake manifold, and throttle body swaps are so small that it isn't even worth the hassle in my opinion unless you're doing additional internal engine or external induction upgrades that require the improved airflow for maximum potential.
This is why I'd go with the "downgrade" manifold.
Again, this is an opinion and not meant to offend differing opinions.

So, if i get that adapter plate we can run the obd 2 IACV with the obd1 harness? or run obd 1 iacv on the obd2 manifold?
Also, this is not meant to make power or anything, it's her daily driver, and the F22 is about to give out. This car purpose is just daily driver duty that's it.

Cool, if it doesn't bother you then you can do what slomo said is to swap out that OBD2 IM for the old one off your old F22Bx engine.
