Default My search for a gs-r.

Wow, I gotta ask....are they made of gold? People seem to be wanting thousands more than they are worth and one guy has a rebuilt title 95 and is asking more than an excellent condition 2001 clean title private value.
If anyone knows of ANY out there under 3500 toss me a pm. Im in TN.

Also, how much would you offer this guy?

http://nashville.craigslist.org/cto/2189761792.html

Im looking at going to take a look in person, bring cash and offer 2k and work up from there but no more than 2800.

thats not to bad i suppose for your area.... looks a little rough but im from florida. picked up my 95 gsr 4dr 4 years ago for 4500 and it had 115k miles on it. only needed a paint job. if its a dealer he may not go this low but i agree i wouldnt pay more than 2800 for it. cuse its gonna need alot of maintence at those miles but with some TLC and some patience its got allot of potential.

It's not a dealer, private owner and he owns the body shop autostyle911.com

Says he bought it for his son, but then decided he wanted a 4dr. No problems he said...Im not very worried about paint or interior as long as its not horrible.

What about this one? It's WAAAAY over priced but if I can talk some sense into them, maybe....I wouldn't go over the 3k mark on this either though. I just don't see it....am I missing something?

these cars calming to have 130ish k miles are suspect. many gsr's are near the 200k mark by now or over.

do a compression test on any gsr you buy.

if it's around 180 hot that's good

if it's around 140 as many actually are you'll be rebuilding soon

try to either get a stock one or a modded one with good parts, koni, greddy, etc. avoid junk mod cars like the plague

I don't know about your area, but up here in the northeast its hard to find a clean title original GSR integra and you do they want upward of $5k+.. Good luck in your search!!

Good luck in your search for a good gsr. I got my gsr dc2 from the dealer 2 years ago for 11k plus all the tax and whatever it is. At the time when i bought it, the car only had 92k miles on it. Glad i bought it, but it was pricey though.

I actually did find a great deal on a 2001 at a dealership in NC. They had it listed on ebay for 5800, I called and offer 5500 and they accepted. With a 3k down payment they still wouldn't finance me the last 2500 without a cosigner. I was floored man, beyond. It had about 150ish with owners manual, extensive receipts for everything and a record of all maintenance. It was the diamond in the rough man but they just refused to give in and i have a 600 credit score. I have a high balance on one cc and that's it.

Guess it's just not meant to be.

At this point, I'm just looking for something that will last for the next year while I transition from the military. Figured if I can get the rebuilt for 2800 and the engine and tranny are in decent shape with no frame damage, I'll pick that up.

Seriously though, what the **** justifies that ridiculous price tag on that 94?(2nd link)

Dayum that sucks. Ask a friend or a relative that is able to buy it and give him/her the money and then just change the title over? But then your gnna have to pay for changing the title though.

And? My 94 with 297,000 miles doesn't use oil (no burning and no leaking).

$3500 is a great price for a 95 with only 135K and clean title.

^

I'd pay $3500 in a heartbeat...Can't find that car on the west coast for less than $4-5k

(seemed like the appropriate "smilie," is there ever really a good time for leg humping though?)

I paid 5300 for my GSR, but it was a clean title, and had 150k on a '94. (I prefer obd1) Owned by an adult and I'm basically the second owner. (Someone owned it for 2 months in between us.) It also had a JDM front and a few other random parts. And I live in SoCal, so go figure.

It's very hard to find a clean GSR for under 5k. They're usually salvaged or beat or junk modified. $3500 for a GSR would make me nervous, I'd suspect engine damage or something.

story of 1998 GSR

bought it for the first time for 3,200 it was stock 84,000 miles ,it needed a little body work and paint overall it was a good car.

acouple months later tranny and clutch ****ed up also i had some random eletrical problems i was moving out of state so i sold it for 1400 $

2 month after that i saw what the new owner did o the car he :

painted
new gsr tranny

Now I got my 95si/95gsr with 107k for $3500 5 years ago. Ate some oil. For that time I thought 3500 was pretty good for a clean hatch

It's funny you say people are all asking thousands more than they are worth. Well in that case no they aren't, you just don't understand how a free market system works. I assume you are going off blue book value which doesn't mean anything for a car with a strong following. According to KBB most CRX's are worth $1000-1500 yet I've seen people fork over $4k+ for good condition ones.

Now that is over, you can buy my 99 GSR.

Good luck with whatever you buy!! It's definitely very tough to find a mint condition gsr of any year for sale now.

I almost traded in my 06 ex for a 1 owner 98 red gsr with only 51k at a dealer down in MA a month or two ago... but never acted on it.... wish i had now.

I went with the hatch I was acking about in the 92 civic forum. The rebuilt gsr sold for 3100 two hours before I called the guy to go look at it. KBB and NADA are the industry standard when buying and selling cars. It's a starting point but when people are asking 6500 for a car thats actual value is 2500 is asking thousands more than its worth. Yes, in a free market system supply and demand are what keeps things rolling but these books are there for a reason. I dont care how much someone pays for a CRX or a GSR or anything, that's on ya'll. I'm not paying 4500 for a car that's value is actually only 1000. Seriously though, show me a listing for a stock CRX in good condition that they are asking 4500 for. I can almost promise you it's not stock.

if it makes you feel any better...i bought a 97 gsr 4dr in 09 from a dealership here in cali for 9k...however checked carfax and it never even had a fender bender...it only had 66k miles on it when i bought it as well...original owners traded it in to an acura dealership for a new car...it was completely stock and looked like it was hardly ever driven...just stay patient u should find something, remember u get what u pay for.

i can see what you're saying for a stock car

but

some cars sell over book and some under

years back fox bodied mustangs were famous for selling over

corvettes usually sell at and the previous gen always goes under

integras and pre 2000 civics sell over more times that not

especially true for an si or gsr

modded cars basically sell on what's done. if you have crap mods it's worth less than stock since A: you scare buyers and B: it requires work just to get back to stock

if it's done with high end parts you just start adding up what's done then determine market value for the mods used and come up with a ballpark.

for example a gsr with a jdm swap, precision turbo, recaros, koni/gc, big brakes and an overall great look will fetch at or near 10k

I just picked up an 01' GSR today for $3300.

Granted, it is swapped. But the body is real clean and the motor runs great. Even as an 01' LS with 95k miles, it books at 5750. I've thought about just throwing the b18c into a Civic and selling the Teg with a stock LS. I'm sure I could get like 4-4.5k out of it with a stock motor but hell I'm really liking the car. Just one of those deals where I luckily had the cash at the time. Not bad considering I sold my 96' SE which had more problems for $3k a couple years ago..
