Default How far to drop my 5th gen accord?

I have a 95 Accord Coupe that I have done a few minor things to, (wheels, intake, jdm knockoff headlights, clear lights all around except for tails) and the next thing I want to do is lower it (why does everyone think my car is RAISED?). I've been looking into 1.5/1.75" H&R springs to eliminate wheel gap, decrease ride height, improve handling slighltly, etc.

Two reasons why I think that 2.25" drop would be too much:
A: I don't like the look of the thing having NO wheel gap whatsoever, I just want to cut what I can off of stock without it looking extremely low
B: F*cking Wisconsin winters. As painful as it may be, I need to drive this car every day of the year and need it to have some ground clearance so that it doesn't get hung up on snow or other bullsh*t that lies in milwaukee area roads.

I have also considered coilovers, but have heard from several primary sources that they can rust solid, leaving me rather stuck at one height, which obviously is not a good thing. Is this a real concern? (NOTE: There is more weight in salt than cars on teh roads here in winter).

Soooo.... I'm asking for your reccomendations. Should I go to 2.25? Should I get coilovers? Should I go with the 1.5s? Any suggestions would be appreciated, especially from those that are satisfied with their own suspension option.

Also, do I need to replace the shocks/struts or just keep them stock until they wear out? And what about camber kits?

Thanks guys

man..i know what you have in mind..
(cheap)coilovers only offer half the spring compare to oem spring
=half spring and half solid metal = bumpy ride
it might sounds good that you can change the height everytime
but after you adjust the coilovers you need to do alignment again
if you dont wanna f_ck up the tires.
except you getting GC's ...tein..

second answer..2.25? dropped over 2 inch you need a camber kit or else
you need new tires every half year if you drive your car everyday.
I heard alot of ppl have camber kit and some of them wont hold up again the
abuse and snap off... (after market header will be another problems)

1.5-1.75 would be your safest bet, you dont need a camber kit for those.
You actually still can use your stock shocks for a while.
H&R and eibach with toni will be perfect even if you have bigger rims(17,18..)

I lowered mine with eibach prokit with 1.5 drop with stock shocks,
ride equal or better than stock, 17x7 with 711 kumho
for eibach..you just put it on and forget about it..
it play it safe because of many G@Y cops in SO CAl and tons of speed bumps
and parking lot dips in my area.

Go with the springs. I have tokico(sp?) with eibach(sp?) prokit and I like the ride. It's stiff yet not to much for daily driving. I hear what your saying about the winters too, I live in Michigan, sometimes the winters can be bad and sometimes there not too bad. The roads aren't that good either but there's nothing you can do about that except look out for those pot holes. I drove my 95 Accord EX Sedan last winter with the drop and didn't have any problems ( ::knock on wood:: ), but then again the winter wasn't too bad.

get the H&R/Neuspeed Sport Springs, they offer the drop you want and they handle well. If you want an all out performance spring, then these are too soft for you.

Tein Website for info.

watch Group Buy Center for good deals. I think there's some on there now. you can get HA's for 900 or so every so often.

edit: cleaned it up a bit

they must have just changed that ****

http://www.tein.com/honda.html

the new SS's spring rates don't even come close to the HA's.

edit: and the SS's don't have helper springs like the HA's...

seems like now would be a good time to get out there and find some HA's on clearance.

and that $1000 is retail.
