Engine Swap
Ok im new here so im going to introduce myself im 17years old im from the suburbs of philadelphia and i drive a 96 honda accord lx. Recently my engine went bad and I was wondering would a stock vtec engine from a 97 accord fit without any modification?
Yes it will fit, however you will require some modification. You need to add the VTEC ECU and wiring. This can be done without heavy modification. If your looking for a high RPM, high power VTEC like they type found in the DOHC B or H series VTEC. You are going to be very disappointed with the SOHC F22B1 VTEC. The function of the VTEC in the B1 is that of fuel economy, not a power.
Yes, you have to get the Vtec ECU, run two wires into the ecu harness. The pressure switch and solenoid, and then run a ground wire to a location of your choosing.
I have done a Vtec head swap on my car. The gains aren't anything super special, but there is an improvement, and if you have to anyways you might as well.
