How did you manage to make 3 identical posts?

If you do an itr cam, you might as well do it right. buy a set of itr intake valve springs, move your gsr intake springs to the exhuast side. Install an itr intake and exhaust camshaft. Get it tuned. Then you'll be good to go. The stock gsr vtec point is to low to properly run itr cams on. you really want it to be around 5000rpm as opposed to 4400. You will need to introduce more fuel as well.

So is that worth the gains? Not really. If you want a noticeable difference, skunk2 pro1's and skunk2 pro valve springs. Get a tuning system that your local tuner is familar with. Have the car tuned. You will notice a difference then.

Some will say that pro1's are to much for a stock 10.0:1 compression gsr, they are to a degree. They will still make great power. They would do much better with 11:1 compression though. 12:1 if you want to utilize their real potential. Many use them in stock bottom end gsr motors and they run great when tuned.

you can do it if your despertaly bored! you wont feel or notice a difrence even if you had your car semi tuned! you need a good amount of mods to the engine before you venture into camshafts. if you think your car will pick up 10hp your kidding your self. best advise is to use a very mild set of cams that you can get away with the stock valvetrain which there really isnt but then again if you dont have suporting mods and a tune its pointless. upgrade the manifold to a sk2 manifold run a 68mm tb a 3'' cai and install a set of either itr valve springs and retainers or aftermarket and run the matching cams like ctr or itr or a stg 1 or 2 cam like the sk2 series cams and tune the ecu, theres a tool you can use to remove the valve springs without removing the head, if you want to skip a tune you can use the ctr cams or itr cams and v.t and just run a itr ecu and you should feel a good difrence. or swap a itr head or ctr head and run it on your gsr ecu with the setup you have or just get a itr ecu to make it better if you want cause the itr ecu is way more peppy than the gsr tables. any aftermarket cam will need to be dialed in by a tuner.
I once swaped a complete ctr head on my 98 gsr motor with mild mods like header and intake and ex and ran it on my gsr ecu and it felt pretty fun! gave it a hard pull right when i hit the street but wassnt much difrent but vtec was louder and more noticed when it activated almost like a switch was hit and the sound got deep in vtec crossover, how much hp it gave idk probrally none but there was no tune just plug and play with the ctr head on my gsr block.

Its not really worth it IMO. There are much better cams out there for almost the same price including the Skunk2 Stage 2. Those are great street cams that work great with stock compression.

Stay away from the Pro1s unless you are planning on raising the compression. They are too big of a cam to run on stock compression. A better intake manifold such as Skunk2 or Edelbrock will also be needed to improve flow to turn the bigger cams. Without that, a upgraded fuel system, higher compression and a good header/exhaust, the Pro1s will end up costing you power in the end than actually making it better.

I'm too lazy to look up specs, but isn't the Pro 1 basically just their stage 2 cam with bigger primaries?

pro1 is definetley too big for a stock gsr. im running blox type A's and cant be happer because i got them new and instaled for the price most people are asking for used cams. picked up some decent power in the mid but topend it was ok, im not using different valvesrpings thought. And after using my blox intake mani id recommend and skunk2 or PX they perform quite well

identify what you want the car to do before you buy any parts

all motor builds for the most part are the expensive way to go slow

a stock gsr will be money ahead if you just move straight to forced induction

that is...unless you are building the car 100% for autocross, even then a jackson supercharger can be very effective
