Default Need help on an interesting issue:

Car: 1994 Honda Accord EX (Automatic transmission)
Issue: Car will shift into the next gear too early under WOT. For instance, it will run normally until ~5000 RPMs then shift while hammering the throttle. Also, when sitting in park the engine will not rev over that same ~5000 RMP mark, and acts as if there is a redline/cut of some sort there (the engine at 5000 RPMs sounds like a car banging off the rev limited if you have the car in first gear.

The car is completely stock and runs normally up until the issue occurs.
The CEL comes on when turning the vehicles power on, but there is no CEL when shifting too early (driving).
The car appears to be warming up normally, and I have tested the temp sensor which singals the dash temp gauge.
I have checked that all the fuses have continuity.
Both fans have were spinning when turning on the AC full blast last night. The cooling fan came on several times on Saturday. I have checked the coolant temp sensors at the thermostat and the one near the hot coolant exit line from the front of the head. Both sensors and there plugs appear to have nothing wrong with them and have shiny contacts.

Any clues on how to diagnose and resolve the issue?

The CEL descripton doesnt make sense. How could the light come on when the vehicles power is on but be off when the car is driving? Have you checked the trans throttle cable? if its too tight, the car will shift eary.

The CEL works (like it's suppose to when you place the key in the ignition and turn the power on). The CEL goes off like all other normal running cars. The car stops revving after 5000 RPM's the trans does not have anything to do with the engine cutting this early while in park.

Have you checked if the marks line up on the timing belt?

I haven't checked timing, but the car is running extremely well except for shifting early. I did have to replace the battery since the old one is old, and would not allow the engine to start even after charging. The new battery has not resolved the issue however.
