new guy needs to beat a damn chevy
wicked site guys. i need some help, i have a 97 prelude with minor mods (intake, headers ,exhaust) and my cocky friend has a 95 camaro, he talks so much trash and i wanna kick his ***, i've been savin up and got some cash, what should i invest in?? and what does my car run stock in a quarter mile??
thanks in advance
thanks in advance
I'm assuming the camaro is a Z28. LT1 motors aren't as powerful as LS1's but they still have a lot of power. For you to beat him, get some drag radials, take out some weight, and a small shot of nos. If he squeezes AND has traction, he will destroy you.
Oh yea, your car will run low 15s stock

i am able to get a 94 integra and a h22a4 engine, i was thinking about putting them together. can anyone post a link showing some info on that swap, or can anyone help?
so your gonna spend 15K (car + swap) to beat a chevy? For the same amount he will be running in the high 10's.
Don't get me wrong, I like running the Stangs and F Bodys. I myself HAVE a 86 Trans Am that will be my drag strip queen once Civic runs 12.9x.

Also note, a local LT1 tuner with a 88 (heavy!) GTA with a LT1 swap, 4000 stall, 700R4 tranny, 3.27 gears, 255/50/16 drag radials, is running 11.2's with a NX nitrous kit. Spraying 200+ shot, made 450 whp, 500+ torque on a chassis dyno.
Still has the stock LT1 exhaust manifolds on the motor!!!!!!!!!
For about 6k, he is kicking MAJOR ***. The 93+ 4th gen F Bodys are lighter than the 82-92 lead sleds.

hmmm, we might think about dropping the economy issue as it is apples and oranges when comparing domestic v8's to hondas.
as an example, i bought my 87 crx for $100 from a complete stranger so that i could argue 10-12k total could get me a 9 sec. car, or even go 11's for 6k total, not just in mods, but what does that realy mean?
to each their own, but i understand what he meant with this post, it is very satisfying to knock down one of the "big guys" which i used to very much enjoy doing with my old civic sedan (12.6 @ 112mph). he won't take down warren johnson but can get a few with patience and planning.

hmmm, my friend Francis has a 99 T/A ls1. Pretty much stock with no cats and a flowmaster, K and N filter. He's been spraying that car with a 150 dry since new and has run 11.7 121 mph on drag radial.
Damnit!!!!!
Damnit!!!!!
LT1's run approx. 14.0-14.1 stock, Auto trans, good launch. The real power on that engine comes from exhaust and HEADERS. The headers are gonna kick your ***. I have seen Lt1's go from 14 flat to 13 flat with a CAI, Headers, and exhaust. Its gonna be tough man. Turn to the darkside. Thats what I'm doin in order to come CLOSE to my buds LS1. I stress the word CLOSE. No way im catching it.

with boost you will catch him and then some. I have a buddy who raced a SS with 200 shot and beat him. Full interior hatch with t3/t4, hondata, built motor, drag radials...the camaro was fully built, gears, headers, exhaust, etc. Granted you are quite a bit heavier than a hatch but with strip that bitch and throw on a t3/t4 and you shouldnt have any problems.
a T3/t4 on a stock honda's going to give you nothing but a bunch of turbo-lag you don't need... do it right with a re-build...
but i doubt this guy has several grand to drop on that... go with nos and see what you can pull. There's always somebody faster...

Why you guys walk into the domestic's arena, then whine about not beating them, I'll never understand. You're at a huge disadvantage right out of the box. Domestics all all set, no handling needed, an engine with torque, add slicks and the domestics have a huge advantage. Yeah, everyone is free to do as they want, but I see NO gratification in beating a domestic if it took $$$$$ to do so. Embarassing is more like it - but you can't complain - you chose to play "their" game.
Why not try out autocrossing where the import can do much much better with far fewer mods.
Yeah I know, wrong forum. Just know there is more to cars than dragracing.

so your running both running 10's then? Didn't notice the names at the major events.
SS = LS1 and will run mid 11's NA.
I call BS.

The race happened at a street legal race night at a local drag strip.
The hatch did win.

5.7 liters + RWD + Chevy Aftermarket= you looking at his tailights.
Be happy with what you have and don't worry about beating a car that was specifically designed to dominate in a drag race. Your money will be spent better elsewhere.
Go turbo, man! I've had 3 different motors in my civic and a plethora of mods. This is my first turbo setup and I LOVE IT!! I wasted far too much money on bolt-on bull ****....FI is the only way to go!
