i think there should be a chat room made for special events that are happening through the year ie (shootout,wcf, nscra etc etc) what does everyone else think?

having one all the time gets useless....you guys saw how fast the live streaming thread was scrolling up the page.

 

it would be nice.. but there would have to be someone monitoring it at all times im sure.. plus some of the chatting got way out of hand, with me included lol. but it would be nice to be able to get opinions and help on the spot. at least make rules for use of it if thye do.

As I wrote in the thank you thread the live chat was the ****, some stuff a bit got a bit off topic but I saw it as harmless banter.

 

I know that if I'm doing a live stream there will always be a chat associated with it.

In addition to that if I'm running it from a laptop I can also have designated admins for the feed that can control the room.

So it really goes back to if this is a planned live feed those logistics can be worked out ahead of time.

 

Not many of you will remember this. But HT was born due to "Live chat" on AOL. We would all get onto AOL chat rooms. One in particular was actually called "Import Racing". That was our forum for a long time. Until AOL got rid of it. Once they got rid of it. HT was born shortly after that.

I think it is a great tool. Some other forums have them.

I think the Drag section should have a chat room not HT in general... you will get a ton of GDD trolls on there if its all HT Chat lol...

 

another forum that i mod , we have a 24/7 chat avaliable for paid members. This way the gazillion public members won't overload the chat. We did a few tests and opened the chat to the mass members and it almost crashed the site.

So a live forum chat a few times a year for special events would be nice.

 

I agree with having one just in the Drag forum. Would be nice. Also in the FI forum. from what ive seen these are the two fastest moving and most viewed.

 

Yeah i think one for race events would be cool. As far as being open all the time would be worthless in a day or two.

Having some one monitor it is Stupid idea. Geez why does everyone thi k we need a no itor for everything. We are all grown adults. if u have AOL messanger you can start your own chat rooms.

 

the only say to have a moderator is so that you dont have people advertising anything but when we were on the site for live event they had some blocker againist uncessary language and website posting. Otherwise it was fun and had a blast talking about all the interesting things.

Also guys if you dont agree try to explain why so we can see if adjustments can be made or suggested so everyone can enjoy this.

I really think we should do it for now just major events around the country and see where it would go from there and see it grow on HT.
