Default Trading in 06' ex cpe for 2011 si cpe

I've had the ex for about 2 years now and i'm able to afford a new si when i sell my gixxer. After the bikes sold i'll be car shopping in the next few months and i'm just trying to get an idea from other people that have potentially gone through this, as to what to expect.

I've got a 2006 black ex 2dr 5 spd with 69,000 miles. Trade in on kbb shows it's value around 9,500 in good condition which it is. I'll have approx. 71,000 when i'm ready to shop for the SI.

My question is what have people been getting for their trades, on a similar/same car? I'd imagine that $9,500 isn't gonna happen.

I've also looked at the retail resale value and private party value of my car.
So the dealerships probably gonna put it back on the lot for about $12-13k. low trade in is around $7,500, i won't take that.

My "plan" is to ask for $9,900 for my trade.

When i go, i'll be shopping at the end of the month, and i'll be looking for a 2011 si cpe in tafetta white. They've been selling for about $21-22k new in my area with no options.

thanks in advance.

private sale. you wont get anything close to kbb value for your car. dealership will mark you down for everything. i just traded in my xb and they tried to take of 1000 for a missing emblem.

I get where your coming from, but doing so now makes me have to scramble to find a new car! besides anyone tring to buy a used car always lowballs or backs out last minute. as i've experienced with my last 2 integras.

Plus having the car and trading it in gives me the ability to, make it easier to walk away from a deal i don't like. Whereas having the car sold privately now pushes me a little more to possibly make a rash decision i'll regret.

I have been trying to trade in my 06 Si it has 100K on it and has a dirty carfax, most places I went to were quick to point out the fact the car was hit and repaired.

I tried trading it on a 09 SI coupe this car was at an audi dealer and was not a certified honda, they wanted 19,996 for there Si,( this car had 26K miles) at first they offered me 7500 but I said no and left later that day they called and offered me 2k more.

I tried trading my Si on an 08 certified honda at a dealer, they were again quick to point out my car was hit, This place offered me 5700 but I had them to 7K before I left this car was white and even though it was cleaned was a dirty car.

I tried trading it on a 2011 in New Jersey, and was offered 5 K, I went there to see a 09 Si they had advertised for 17,300 but it was beat.

To make a long story even longer, I don't own an Si anymore, I left it in Philadelphia got those people up to 9600 and I brought home a 03 corvette conv.

I will buy another Si, but I want a new one possibly after I see first hand what they did with the 2012 car.

So after reading yours Bee guz, I "shouldn't" have too hard a time getting 9,500 for my trade when it has a clean title and 30k less miles than your 06 SI.

So i hope!

thanks for the responses.

The Si might book higher than your car but your car has all the right stuff to do big money.

You still have to fight to get what you want, if you do not get the right price for your car WALK away, I was in my civic pulling out of reedmans and the salesman stopped me.

On the other car I looked at locally, I was home when they called and offered 9600.

The thing was I wasn't sure I wanted another civic si, it would be like getting the same car over again, a better car a different color, but the same car.

I may get one of the new ones if I like the car when I see one in person,, meanwhile the money I have in the corvette will be safe, I can sell corvettes that is the one of the cars I have owned that always gave me my money back when I wanted it.

I love everything about this car, except that it had no umph! I saw a 09 taffeta white SI a few months ago up close and I thought it looked fantastic!

I too had thought of vettes... You can last gen Z06's pretty cheap now. I saw a few 02's for $20k with less than 30k miles.

But i digress, we'll see what the dealers offer in the next month or two. My car doesn't have any mechanical issues and the paints solid despite some highway knicks and dings on the front end.
