No, but you should use a tapered connection to "ease" the flow.

Forgot to add it's on a daily ls vtec. Built head stock block. Gonna build the block once I hear back from Benson and eventually superxharge it.
What do you mean by taper?

have a tapered connection, like a funnel. not just connect the 2.5" to the 2.3" and clamp the big one down onto the small one to force it into fitting.

Thanks for super fast responses. Is A resonator gonna restrict flow?
I have horrible low end but I also have holes in my header and piping. Figure going to 2.5 and no leaks or holes is gonna help that.

What about 2.5 to 2.25? Will that be too much of a difference?

No Cat but use a Resonator, the sounds way better. Why not find a muffler with a 2.5" inlet?

I found a good deal on a ws2 and an s2000 twinloop muffler. I like the way they both sound.

Will the 2.25 s2000 twin loop restrict flow too much?

it'll be fine for NA. with boost tho it would restrict some yes. that's why they recommend 3'' for forced induction

2.5 to 2.25 will be fine? I plan on going supercharged, but I'll be n/a before The JRSC gets put on.

Im wondering how restrictive the JDM ITR muffler is?
Ill have custom mandrel bent piping, going to an ITR muffler...
Want something quiet, and sleeper status.

On my 00 GSR i have the

T1R Response Header > TIR Resonated Test Pipe > T1R B-Pipe > ITR Axle Back

Absolutely Love It!

Sound is nice and low key until full throttle. Even then most of the
tone is from my intake, 3" pipe > BPI stack > K&N Filter.

Im in the process of building a 2.5" cat using a magnaflow unit. Just waiting on the flanges. That will make it even more low key im sure.

If you search my username im pretty sure i uploaded sound clips for another member.

So the ITR muffler is not restrictive in flow?

keep your cat. whoever says it sounds better either has tons of resonators, likes bees, or can't hear. plus trees will thank you.

otherwise you'll be spiffy.
resonators don't restrict flow. or if they do not much at all. they are straight through just filled with packing for sound deadening.

T1R stuff is hella nice. Had their B-Pipe and Axle back on my DC5 years ago. If I wasn't going sleeper route I would get their exhaust for my EK but I got a hella quiet RSR right now. Ordered their Bmax suspension for my EK. Should be here soon.

it's an OEM muffler. It's designed to be quiet.

Quiet doesn't necessarily mean restrictive.
