Icon6 2005 Pilot Catalytic Converter Change

From what I can find so far, it appears that the front and rear catalytic converters (the two attached to the engine) are bolted on. So, all I need to do is unplug and remove the oxygen sensors, unbolt the top and bottom of the converters, remove them, replace the old gasket, and bolt the new converters back on.

Correct?

Do I need to remove the exhaust pipes to get to the rear converter? Trying to get rid of the 420 and 430 codes............ugh.

Any step by step help from anyone familiar with this process on the '05 Pilot would be awesome. Please help.

Thanks.

Yes, basically all you need to do is unbolt the cat from the head and exhaust and unplug the o2 sensor, however, it's not quite that simple to do it.

To remove the front cat you will need to remove the condenser fan shroud for enough clearance. Then unplug the o2 sensor and then unbolt the cat. The rear cat will require that the axle comes out, because you will need to remove it by taking it down underneath the engine.

Good luck.
