Default GSR build (input appreciated) head & piston help!

So I have a 1999 ls that i bought a few years ago and i recently decided to pull the motor and go ls-v but I came across a gsr block with p30 pistons and gsr crank and rods (the catch was it through a rod bearing in cylinder 1)

so new plan was to have the gsr block honed cleaned and decked if needed, than put my ls rods and crank in the gsr block. I am using arp head studs as well as arp rod bolts.

Parts using-
Gsr head cleaned and resurfaced with valve job with Sk2 valvtrain stage 1 pro cams
81.5mm USD type r pistons
Gsr crank pulley
skunk 2 pro Intake Manifold
Ls throttle body (hopefully not)
Ecu?
type R transmission
type r fly wheel
Type r water pump, oil pump
stage 2 exedy clutch

if you use the gsr head you will not be able to use the ls intake manifold.. correct if im wrong. im not sure on the rods though. i know i had a ls block that i had put type r rods and pistons in and i had to modify the rods a little though

With the added stroke of the LS crank, you would not be able to safely use the p30 pistons. The compression is too high to be safe.

You would either need to use a GSR crank or opt for other pistons.
Also scratch out the LS manifold as it will not fit, and stick to a GSR Skunk2 Pro series.
p28 ECU and OBD1 conversion a must if you want everything to run correctly.

The P30's will work just fine? Why is everyone so misleading. Just don't be the dumbass that uses CTR pistons, because then you will have clearance problems.

The p30 pistons with an LS crank (which is the key word here) will increase compression to the point where it will be dangerous.

The best option would be JDM ITR pistons or USDM ITR pistons. This way, the OP will not run into any clearance or compression problems.

I retract my statements...I misread the first post, and realized hes also using LS rods.
This changes everything. In that case, you will be as long as you use the LS rods as well.

I thought you were planning on just putting an LS crank with p30s...That would be bad lol...

Just so that there is no confusion- meant the ls crank and ls rods with the p30 pistons

^^that will work just fine. Its actually a very nice setup. Increases the stroke to produce more torque yet maintains compression at a safe level (around 11.1:1).

My last GSR build was exactly this only with CP pistons, Manley Rods, LS crank in a 2.0L Benson sleeved block.

Just built my friends car with p30's and ls rods and crank. The only diff is we had it balanced and line bored. He is currently running my itr cams and its pulls pretty good. Needs a little more cam tho but waiting to get it bar'd before doing all that.

I actually show LS rods and crank with P30 pistons in a GSR motor making 11.75:1 with no milling or decking. You are getting dangerously close to 12:1... which is the max I would consider on a street motor. (Unless you really know what you're doing) Either way, anything over 10.5:1 should be tuned and broken in on a dyno.

Skunk2 pro 1's will wake the motor up. Just for gods sake get it tuned before you even try to start it. Don't **** it up to begin with. Do it right.

No first time drive or reassuring start-up when done

You need a basemap for that motor to even start it. PM me if you need an obd1 ecu.

With the water pipe i have in the picture, will it work with swapping in my Ls. As far as i can tell i will not need the furthest adapter to the right (or on the left if the motor was not upsidedown)?

also does anyone have a plug for gsr head, got it ready for ls/v with tap installed.
