OBD1 swap in obd2 shell w/obd2 boomslang with it pass inspection??
Before I bribe someone to pass my car illegally I wanted to check my options...
I have a OBD1 swap for a 96 shell and saw this:http://nipponpower.com/product.phtml?p=775
If I get an OBD2 ecu to plug it into will it pass? CEL will prob pop up fast right? This **** confuses me......

the DLC should still be there unless you removed that too.
using the OBD1 conversion harness will work and not give you CEL but it will probably fail you
at smog if they look since you are downgrading its emissions components.
why would you get a CEL if your using an OBD2 ecu in a 96 shell? 96 shell is an OBD2a so the ecu wouldnt be a problem unless you removed all of the emissions equipment or you removed all of the emission plugs?

If i have an obd2 car why wouldn't it have an obd2 port....
BTW I live in NY if that means anything
yeah your right. which one did you plug in? the on the exhaust manifold or the one on the catalytic? i suppose you can just plug in the other o2 and just zip tie it out of the way but that will give an off reading with no CEL. i never had an OBD setup like that so i dont really know how performance or emissions would suffer if any.
I've worked at a few shops with obd2 theres no visual inspection other than lights and maybe tires and wipers if they want to make money.
I just spoke to someone from boomslang and he pretty much said completely convert everything or do it illegally, he even said don't buy their obd1 to obd2 jumper and just do a complete conversion...so much for that lolol
Thanks for the input tho guys next build I do I'll match my OBDs
