i have a 97 gsr and i want to no why it smokes in vtec. i have good compression 240 cross the board. and just replaced my valve stem seals. it has 158,000 miles with sk2 intake mani and full exhaust. it still burns oil and smokes in vtec. WHY??? Thanks

 

Its normal to get a puff of smoke when hitting Vtec.

 

If im not mistaken Vtec engines are notorious for eating oil in the high rpm range.

 

What color smoke? That will tell you everything.

At 158k, maybe your rings

 

what color of smoke and do you know if you have a good vtec solenoid gasket on it? not saying that could be a problem but just came to mind.

 

My lsvtec smokes when it hits vtec, mostly cuz it was tuned to run rich as a B!tch.

 

BTW...EVERY honda burns a bit of oil, even stock.

Does it smoke only when engaging in VTEC or cruising/coasting?
