Default OBD2 to OBD1 auto trans Interchangeable?

1996 Civic EX auto. Car was running fine. Alternator went out. Replaced alternator, started the car, and when you put the car in drive it would click into gear, but would respond like it was in neutral (no response) :-). So fluid was replaced, now it will go into gear but slips horribly. Showed no sign of going out, just went. Now my question is, can i replace the tranny in the OBD2 d16z6 with an OBD1 tranny from the jdm d15b? Thank you very much.

Sorry if this has been covered. could not find anything in search.

Nope, must be a '96 - '00 tranny. Y7 and Y8 are a little different as well.
