91' crx hf brake conversion
I need to buy new brakes for my rex and i was wondering what combination of brakes would work best with out being too much hassle to install. At this point I am looking at using (crx)dx front rotors & calipers and (crx) si rear rotors. are there any integra rotors I could use that are thicker than the crx dx rotors? please help i am having serious brake fade and warping problems with my current rotors.
i recomend going all wheel drum breaks... No seriously, goto a junkyard and get integra rear wheel disc set up and then get some slotted cross drilled rotors for front and back...
real funny crx si, Im not trying to set my break system back 45 years and go all drum, although the thought of not having to clean my rims every two days is tempting. why should I go with brembo blanks instead of cross-drilled or slotted, big pete? r u joking or do you know something the rest of us dont?
u still have the front hf spindles? ie..u still runnin the hf motor? if so..dunno what to tell you for the fronts. for the rear, u can do crx si rear discs. u need the e-brake cable from the si as well. not sure if u need the whole spindles/trailing arms off the si..im going to do this shortly tho so i'll let u know. if ur going to do that itd be a good idea to upgrade to a ef civic sedan ex brake mc. 15/16" instead of 7/8".

I am not running the stock d15a, I have a b16a1 . Why should I get brembo blanks istead of cross-drilled or slotted? if someone is not happy with cross drilled why would they be happy with blanks???
I might be interested in the Si spindles Clean90Si, depends how much u want 4 em. THey r not my first choice though. Do I need just the rotors or do I need the whole nine?

get the Brembo blanks. why?~~~> cross-drilled & slotted rotors can't be turned if they warp, so basically if you warp them, you're out $100. if you warp Brembos, you get them turned. also, the Brembos are much less expensive. slotted/cross-drilled do help (auto-x, road racing, not on the street), but i know i sure don't have the wallet to buy new rotors that often.
ok I know that you can't get most honda rotors turned, because they are already so thin to cut down on weight, does brembo make their rotors thicker than stock ones. So I am told it is harder to warp cross drilled or slotted rotors N E way (due to cooler running temp.), if this is true then why would I have to worry about warping them? is it that much of a price diff between blanks and crossdrilled?
the blanks have more surface area more surface area = more stopping power....there are no gases to vent thats old technology actually.....and its just physics they look "cool" but they arent as good ask driven he will tell u from experience
alright thanks, that is confusing but helpful, what about slotted, slots in rotors are actually made to clean brake dust off the pads not to run cooler.
you can actually use some DC or 99-00 Si fronts, But be sure to get a camber kit wiht them because you definitly will need them. and you can get some rears from a DA.

I already have a camber kit on my front so that is not a problem what r the 99-00si rotors 10.5" ? and is it an easy swap? I'll look into it though thanks for the idea.
Yeah they are like 10.5, and perform way better than the stockies. The swap is relatively easy, similar to the EG brake upgrades. Just need the whole spindle assemblie from the si.

it porportions pressure between front and rear brakes. you need more braking power in the front. SO when you change brakes you must change the porportioning of them too! rear drums use lower pressure, rear disc use slightly higher pressure. if you dont change it you dont get full use of your rear brakes. if you get your brake from a boneyard, get the SAME popo valve from the SAME car the brakes came from. P.S. use non ABS 90-93 integra front and rear.
