Ok so my boyfriend and I were looking for a winter beater and found a pretty sweet deal on this Accord. It's been working great so far, but has started having some minor electrical problems. First of all, the cigarette lighter stopped working completely, and when we plug any kind of charger into it, the rear defroster and the intermittent wipers don't work. Plus sometimes, even when there's nothing in the cigarette lighter, the rear defroster will be a bit flaky and turn on and off by itself (you can hear the relay clicking when it does.)

Also, not sure if it's related but both the dome light and the cruise control seem to have stopped working around the same time as well.

Any ideas?

 

Start simple check the fuses. Then if all good i would take the dash apart and check the wiring harness for any sign of shorting out or if some one may have tapped into the cig wires for after market equipment. Good luck.

 

For the cigarette lighter, first check the No. 22 (15A) fuse in your under-hood fuse relay box and the No. 11 (10A) fuse in your driver side under-dash fuse relay box. You may have a short at the cigarette lighting wire or assembly.

Check the ground wires and that they are clean and secure at ground locations G401 and G402. I believe the cigarette lighter, intermittent wiper relay, some cruise control components, and the rear defogger share the grounds at G401 and G402.

The ceiling light grounds are at G501 and G502 if you have a sunroof; otherwise, it is at the mounting bolt of the ceiling light.

 

Ceiling light can also be door switch, bulb contact, etc.
