ok so i going to sell my 02 chevy 1500hd with 9 inch lift so i can pay some court fees and sh#t, and i am going to have about 3000- 3500 to buy a dd. i have a 91 rex with a b16 in it, but it stays in the garage only come out for sunday drives and cruises. now being in the scene since i was 15 now 30. i have worked for honda for 6 years of that. now a mechanic at another stealership.

my problem: i live in las vegas and i am SCARED to park my "honda" anywhere.
i need a dd, now i am not going to drive some 98 hp stock motor. so more then likely it will be a b20v or a K. since i will have 3grand to play with.

i need some advise on theft protection, i dont want to here about low jack "unless u have personal experince with it" too many people say stuff just what they have "heard".

i don't want to give up on the older honda crowd...

 

Do a stealth viper alarm install with back up battery tilt sensor proximity sensor and glass audio sensor witch can dedect broken glass also have 2 kill switches wired to the alarm with relays. And also use a regular kill switch that you can turn on and off you self when in the car. Also removeable steering wheel that will stop any wood be theif and some joyriders but it won't stop a flat bed or tow truck from taking it. So unless you chain your car to the ground with some ship anchor chains they will get it if they want it bad enough

if you want a b20 vtec or a k and your scared to take your crx for a ride and it has a b16 then whats the difference?

 

for 3 grand and you need a car.... i would do a nice b20 non vtec or a ls b18b swap.. it may even beat that torquless b16 especially if you do a nice cheap back yard turbo kit....

 

Well quite frankly i would suggest what tony said, and if you are just using it as a dd why not have a shitty shell, make it look like its just a stock car. Couple dents here and there. A nice lil sleeper. With a descent alarm system, just in case any pos feels like trying to ****** it.

dont get low jack, my friend have his integra with 3 kill switch, steering wheel and clutch lock, remove the ecu and the low jack, the car gone and never found to this day.

to the couple of guys asking ?'s about a b20v and K for under 3 grand. well i got a b16 vtec head and i can get the k20a for about 1800 + 700 tranny. so all is in my price range. i have been thinking about this NON stop for the past 3 months. so i have a good plan.

so viper is still the leading alarm company? (got a viper 5901 on my wifes 02 civic) any other "really" good companys? i was already planing on hiding the "box" somewhere in the dash vent wires running along the top.

 

anybody ever use GSM GPS alarm off ebay?

well all you stated was that u could get the engine and transmission for 2500 and that a 3 grand build wasnt a problem. you failed to mention anything elsewhere. considering youre gonna need a much better brake setup and exhaust and all that ****.it adds up

ok so you are telling me that my car wont stop with a k in it? lol a k weights maybe 150-170 <~ at most. pounds more than a b. so if my buddy (220lbs) were to get in my car with a b16 in it, i would not be able to stop? right?

I agree with Julio, plus this was started to be about alarms and keeping his car safe from theives, not what he's building.

Anyways, I'd definitely agree with Tony on the viper system with 2 kill switches. You could take it one step further like the guys in Philly and buy your own boot (like the one they would put on if you were illegally parked). It'll add time to you getting in your car, but it's next to impossible to get one of those off quickly/quietly. Good luck man!

just get a boost mobile prepaid phone! download "mogologo" onto the phone, hardwire it with a charger to the battery or a smaller backup battery, and there you go! cheap low jack! it tracks my car within 3 feet anywhere i park it and pinpoints it on a map like mapquest when logging onto the website, it also updates ever 3-5 minutes or so! mogologo.com

 

wouldnt u have to pay monthly for the phone to be tracked? or does it only quit when the minutes are used

 

you have to purchase minutes every 3 months so as not to have service interrupted but its $10. well worth the piece of mind.
