Default What's the best way to remove undercoating?

Starting a project and I need to do some welding/modification of the tranny tunnel and I'd like to remove some weight at the same time if possible. What's the best way (besides FIRE) to remove undercoating?

I know oven cleaner will remove powdercoating. Not sure if it would work the same... but there is some solvent that will take it off, but I don't know the name of it off the top of my head.

There isnt one. You can try the following:

Dry ice hammer
Electric Needle/chissel
scraper with heat or flame
eastwood makes an undercoating remover
several companies make brush on removers

All are messy and disgusting. I wouldnt bother unless you had to The bottom of my crx only have 18 lbs on it and had been recoated at least once.

That stuff works great, but is VERY caustic. DON'T breathe it in!!! I wouldn't feel safe being under a car with that, if you need to get out quick, you kinda can't. But, it would certainly work well.

My body guy also said to use wax and grease remover (prep solution).
