DX Civic Ek model Sway bar options
1997 Civic EK
In searching this forum I've noted most of my available options to upgrade my DX EK model Civic to have a front sway bar.
Am I limiting myself to future upgrades of the actual bar (MM size) if I stick with a straight up EK EX model LCA sway and factory bar?
I havent seen a aftermarket LCA's that I can sway with my non sway bar DX LCA's, at least that I have been able to find. Or a thread that will show me what other Honda/Acura LCA's are a direct swap for me to use in doing this upgrade. If anyone has that info to share I'd appreciate it.
Thanks

You don't own a "EK"
Are you looking to add a rear sway bar also? What other suspension modifications do you have? What tires do you have?
You basicly can use any 92-00 civic/ 94-01 integra sway bar.
You don't have to swap the whole control arm, just the back half. However, 99-00 civic si, uses a 1 piece front lower control arm.
I have 99-00 SI sway bars in my car, 26mm front, 13mm rear, I am content for the moment, but will be upgrading to a 22mm rear sway bar.

My mistake, what defines the EK chassis? Based on what I read here i thought it was civic hatchback models built from 92-2000?
No rear sway bar plans at this point, current suspension is entirely oem, tires are 195/50
Given your use of 99-00Si bars did you swap to a LCA from a 99-00 civic as well? Whats required for the addition of a rear bar on a DX model?

The commonly 'EK' reference to 96-00 Civic models is strictly speaking incorrect because some models of this gen have 'EJ' designations despite having the same chassis as official 'EK' models.
Personally I find this general 'EK' reference an ease of use.
To mount an SI/EK4/9 26mm front bar you need SI front LCAs.
To mount a SI 13mm rear bar you need, besides the sway bar setup itself, some reinforcement plates for the back of the subframe. Check older posts on this by me.
To mount an EK9 or ITR rear bar you need a subframe brace like ASR or Whiteline.

I currently have a 99-00 SI 26mm front sway bar on my car. All I did what get all of the OEM hardware, blox endlinks ES bushings and throw it on.
With that said, you would never catch me with that big of a front sway bar in front and noithing in the rear.
