Default this stupid IAB is being stupid. please help me!!!!

OK. I have a 92 civic VX. I have a 99 gsr motor in it. Im using the gsr wire harness, and im using a obd-1 ecu. I switched pins for the IAB, and I know thats right, i followed the iab wire right to the spot in the ecu, and its right. And then I heard that I have to give the black wire on the IAB a 12v switched source. So i cut the black wire and used the yellow/blk wire from the injectors. I hooked it all up. Now I also heard that when I start up the car, the secondairs should suck closed. but when I start my car, the valve does not move, And while the car is running, I checked to see it there was vacume on the hose going into the secondairs, but there isn't. what could be wrong???? Is my IAB bad? Or is the IAB supposed to be grounded. but remember, i have an obd-1 ecu running the 99 gsr motor. Any elp would be nice. Thank you. (is it bad to drive it around with it not working, its jsut open all the time, right? no bid deal, right?)

I believe with OBD1 you have to GROUND the wire and run the other one to A17.

about the vacuum, I am having the same issue as well, but not too concerned about it since i re-routed the lines. I'd like the IAB's hooked up properly though

I don't want to get this thread ot but........
A guy at a local shop said that the 00 gsr IAB doesn't need any wiring(it opens and closes entirely through vacuum). Is this true? Or is he just trying to avoid additional work??

no, on obdII it needs a +12V switched source. make sure your hoses are all hooked up correctly. when you start it it should close.

gound, 12v switched. I dunno. All I can say is that I have it wired into a 12v switched source, and when I start it, it doesn't suck close. The hoses are good too. Maybe my iab is bad???? How bad is it to drive around with it open like it is? Is is slower, or will it hurt anything?

you could just buy a skunk2 IM and forget about secondaries. without it close you will just loose some lowend torque. or you can take your gsr IM apart and take out the stuff for them. i think someone did that on their turboed car with good results.

taking apart the intake and taking out the IAB's.

I'm thinkin of doin this to the h22 intake manifold if it'll work. Might as well port and polish the thing too

i think it was art on here that said he did it. but im not sure. yes you're secondaries should work with the obdI p72. make sure instead of being grounded its got a 12v+ switched source going to the selenoid. the other wire should go to a17.

no, it goes to A17. thats all right. There is 1 more thing I want to check. I have the IAB out from under the intake, im checking everything. But I want to see if all the vacume lines are right. if 1 line is wrong, that would be the problem. If anyone has a diagram to show me how that all goes. I know there are diagrams floating all around here, but I can't find it.

ok, I think its broken. I messed around with it a lot. Its jsut like the selenoid is stuck in 1 position. Just like the selenoid is on. I understand how the IAB works, and when you get over 6800 rpms, the selenoid opens. And that is where mine is stuck at. anything to do? or buy a new one? I guess im out to find a new IAB then. but thank you a lot for all yoru help.

so who exactly has taken out their IAB's?

I was thinking of doing this to the prelude intake manifold and getting rid of the secondary butterflies as well as port and polishing the insides.

wonder if that would work at all

yeah, well, I have them, and It would jsut be nice to use them I guess. But why take them out? can't you jsut leave them open? don't hook anything up to it?? But I would like all the power off the line that I can get.
