I did when I went with an external oil cooler. I wouldn't do it otherwise.

the reason i'm doing it is that i do oval racing on a 400m track and at most about 7-8 laps, i'm figuring that my oil temp will not be a problem but getting it up to temp is, also will it help oil flow with it removed?

how did you do it, i was thinking of getting a 22mm threaded nipple to just screw into the centre then using a filter with 22mm thread, i think a cherokee has one, i presume you put your cooler take off plate directly onto the block.

thanks for the replies

If you want to remove the cooler just plug off the water connections on the water pump tube, remove cooler, and replace long nipple with H23 short nipple.

It does. Unless you're worried about one of those little hoses busting, there's no reason to bother removing it

hi mate, the reason i'm planning on removing it is that its a bit of a restriction on oil flow, also if you get an engine failure like i have it will be full of crap. i really dont need it as i'm only doing short races and my prob is getting the oil hot enough not keeping it cool, i think it will just simplify things
