Default B series shift linkage ?

Hey guys well I'm planning to swap a ls motor into my 89 civic hatch...i need a shift linkage for my swap and i know that i could buy one like Avid or Innovative but i have a 93 da shift linkage i know i read something about being able to cut a DA shift linkage somewhere about 2 inches in the straightess part and weld back together and it will bolt right up and have no problem...has anyone done this and wat are your opinions one this, reason why i ask is because im broke i have a son and i rather put him first than my project car...just trying to save a little extra cash but if its bad i'll just wait and save to buy a aftermarket one...thanks for the input fellas..

ive heard of people who have welded them, i havent heard any bad things. if i was me tho id just save up and buy aftermarket one. thats what i did and i havent had a single problem out of them. just make sure u get good mounts, i had crapy mount on my swap when i first did it and broke the back mount, ended up twisting the linkage all up

most mount kits you can use DA linkage but it needs to be shortened by 2 and 3/8" for it to work. with the motor mounted in the car, just mock up your DA linkage before you cut it and you should be able to measure how much you need to shorten it. remember to shorten it ONLY in the spots where the shift linkage is straight and not on a bend

alright thanks man...so i already have the motor in the hatch right now its just the shift linkage, do u think its fine to just shorten it 2 3/8 inches and put it back together an then put it on...i just ask because im from CT and its mad cold out...hahah..

it really depends on what mounts you are using... i had JDM SiR linkage with old school early 90's HAsport mounts and i shortened mine by 2 and 1/4". i would try to google it

Ya it even says in the link I posted it depends on the mounts you use. For how much you got to cut off to make it shorter
