More power out of a B18b
Hey guys it looks like I am going to keep my honda for a little bit longer. Its pretty much ready to go to the crusher. However I am going to try budget build a track car. Anyways my car has a spoon header, no cat and 2.5 inch cat back with a spoon n1. It also has a ram air intake. So I am trying to find a way to get another 10-15hp and any more torque. I am used to my Lt1 where intake and full exhaust and a tune added 58 wrhp and 82 ft/lbs of torque. So what could I do to make this slow car a little bit faster. I really don't want to do lsv or a turbo build as this car is junk. Engine is strong and pulled away from my buddies da integra. So is there anything else that's cheap that would try and wake this engine up or is it another $600 plus bucks to make it a tad bit faster.
Try sourcing a B16A JDM tranny. After looking for one for about 4 months I found one for 400. The shorter gearing will make a huge difference for the LS.
....or try taking the good stuff off the car and junking it.
Well as for the crusher thing. I am currently replacing all the suspension and having to do a head gasket. Tons of work on a car that's worth about $200. Maybe after the budget rebuild it will be a good car. Cams would help but I don't want to drop that much on the motor. A b16 trans would be ok except I really don't want that high of gear. If the car is kept it will be a dd on the highway for work and school to keep miles of my Firebird. I may go find a cheap intake manifold and s2k throttle body.

Not going for cams. NOS is not allowed at the road course or autox. By the look of it I am going to spend the money on some wheels with good tires for the track. Then hope that the engine will hold up 2 days of hard abuse. If the car makes it then it may have some life with maybe a lsv build. Otherwise Ill sell it to some teenager for like $1000
If your gonna track it, you won't hit 120. If you auto X, good luck on getting out of 3rd gear even with the B16 tranny. Don't really understand your idea here. You want more power but your not wanting to drop money on cams or a tranny. So...that leaves you with weight reduction. Maybe. lololol -Later, BR
Yeah the b16 trans is the way to go except all the local hondas are crap around here. So parts are rare and over priced. If they are cheap they are either stolen or grinding. My ls trans is grinding third so it may be time to change it. Also I have to factor in a clutch. So around here that's a $600-$700 in parts. I think the engine will stay the way it is for now. May use the money for suspension. Also on track we will see 105 to 110 talking to guys who runs crxs. In autox I never run third I just peg out 2nd for a second or two. So the trans may be the way to go. I posted this up to see if there was any $200 or less jobs that could help this car out.
For auto x a b16 tranny with lsd would make a big difference, I had a ls swap
in my si and I tried a ls tranny and b16 tranny drag racing ran 15.6 ls tranny
15.1 with b16 tranny. RPMs are about 1000 higher on the freeway but milage
wasn't effected. Why arn't you using your firechicken for auto x lol.
