Honda bond HT?
My mom just went to acura to get me some Honda bond. Its $12.95 for honda bond HT. He said its the only one they sell and use their. He also said that you dont need it for cars with gaskets. Its only purpuse for cars with gaskets is to hold it in place till you tighten it down. Is this all true?
There are two types of hondabond I know of and have used. One is the regular honda bond which has blusish purple lettering. The temp. rating of this hondabond is somewhere in the neighborhood of 0 - 300 F. The other is the Hondabond HT. HT stands for high temparature and has red lettering. The temp. rating of this hondabond is 0 - 600 F and is silicone based. The HT should normally be used in place where there is direct contact with the block. I have used it in places such as the big drain bolt in the front of the block and on older model acura legends which didnt have oil pan gaskets. But I have also used it in a bunch of other places on the block and head with success. The HT takes longer to cure. Besides the content and temp. differences, both do the same thing and its reinforce gaskets and seals. Gives you a better piece of mind. I mean you could use it to hold in place until you tighten something down. But that be only one of its uses. Hope that helped somewhat
