I got a 89 HF & I will be driving down the HWY and all of a sudden my car just shuts off? The temp gauge drops like if i turned the key off. But it starts right up again when I turn the key to start it and the temp gauge rises again? Also every ones in awhile it just starts sputtering like its starving for fuel? But it usually only acts like that if its been sitting for 2 days?ANy ideas?

my ef did this when the distributor went bad. take it off and look for loose copper wiring which is a result of the tdc sensor for cly 1 dislodging itself.

also test your ignitor and coil to see if they are working properly as my old 94 ex coupe would randomly shut off as well.

 

check dizzy coil pack, if not that try changing the main relay. My crx had the same problem, my brother thought it was the coil pack but I changed that and it didn't start. then i noticed the fuel pump wasnt turning on. so i bought new fuel pump (even though I didn't have to) and yada yada yada it ended up being the main relay.
