Prelude Dash in EF
I've seen it done, I've read threads on Honda-Tech, but the NONE went into detail as to what they did to get it to fit, I KNOW it's more then just making brackets and lining it up, does anyone have an idea as to how this would work?? I have an ENTIRE Prelude Chasis Harness that i've already began stuffing into my EF, and before I go ahead and order the dash (92), i'd like to get a measure on the difficulty of making it fit. I have NO problem fabbing anything, but any insight would be appreciated..
ALSO, being that i'm using an Obd-1 Chasis harness, is there anyway I can KEEP the EF Dash, maybe use JUST the prelude Cluster and rock from there???
Once again, any insight is appreciated. I want to make this build at least MODERATELY unique, a J-swap will be finding it's way into this car come April, but that's no reason to half *** my H23, any input is welcome.

Interesting.... I believe a prelude dash is wider than an ef dash so my guess is that the sides would be shaved off a little. I don't know this for sure but that would be my best guess. Now the cluster on the other hand wouldnt be as hard because I've seen all kinds or clusters in efs. The slickest looking by far is S2K cluster but I've seen a delsol and gsr eg and ek cluster in ef's too. I wanna say that the dash will be further out too but idk. I'm curious as to see what you do. I figured that to. I would first try to put the dash in an mark off where it's edges exceed the width of the cabin and just shave there..i'm figuring that it would also come FORWARD more then the EF Dash does to, but from what I saw in the photo on these boards It looked like he didn't have steering wheel clearance issues either which is great. At this point i would be getting the entire DASH, mostly because of the fact that I'm already utilizing the Dash Harness of the same model, would make running the motor and having everything inside function properly a breeze..
I Agree that the S2k Cluster is siiiiiiick but I wouldn't do it because I know an H23 doesn't red line at 8 grand, lmao...I like my Tach's to accurately represent my motors capabilities lol..
So I guess once I get the info I need, i'll get started, I'm going to go ahead and find a Prelude Dash to at least mach this thing up..
These are pics from the build that I saw on this site, I even PM'd the guy to see if he could give me some advice or if i could purchase the brackets from him..
THIS IS NOT MY BUILD, JUST PHOTO's of someone elses Build on here and this is exactly what i'm trying to do, save for this guys car being RHD...

That thing looks SLICK in there, cot dayum I gotta do that...

It does look sick and does look like the sides are cut. No heat or AC i would assume. Is it finished? or is that just the progress he has had till now. If you can source the parts then anything is possible. That is exactly why I love this hobby/life.
See that's one thing I was wondering, would the heat work??? I know there is at least SOME WAY to mount a heater core that would fit but would all the venting line up or no??? Questions questions questions...
The guy who did this on these boards, I ASSUME has finished the build as these photo's are several years old, i've PM'd him, no answer, i hope he just visits infrequently and is still around...
Prelude Heater core ftw to get heat??? No??? Yes???...
I'm so doing this...

91 Dx Hatch Curbweight 21-2200lbs / Prelude - In excess of 3,000lbs, HELL no i'm not getting a prelude....
I notice the gaps are there but as this guy did in the build, making the filler pieces are a peace of cake and only the contour of the dash creates that gap, which really isn't more then 2.75 inches, maybe 3. It would cost like $5 to fabricate and upholster a filler piece and quite frankly I don't care about the gap by the doors once it's shaved.
It lines up ENOUGH to fit, and function.....I'm doin it, hell I already got the dash, and the Obd-1 harness is in, mounted and stuffed. Pics coming soon.
Simply put....Looks terrible don't do it. As stated above none of the lines match and the gaps are bad.
First off I'm kinda against dash swaps but at least a crx or integra would look far better than a Gaylude dash...and yes that is the official name for that year of prelude fyi

No you know I say do it... Don't let people tell you that it won't work or doesn't look good. Do what you think looks good. If everyone listened to someone saying it wont work or look good we wouldn't have k, h, or j swaps in efs. Dont put someone down for trying to be unique and innovative, Its one of the only things we have still in this country.
Is yours going to be RHD too. I think the heater core makes sense for the prelude but again you got to remember that your probably going to take a couple of inches off both sides so the heater core might be too long too. I could live without AC and I do live without it in my car. But this car will be sick when you are done and a j swap too. Ill do some more searching on some other forums for you. I always liked the prelude interior like everything seats especially.
Nah mine is LHD, and I to, give two craps about AC, i've never owned a Civic with it so i'm not gonna feel bad without it. Me and my buddy just did the measurements and a few inches off of the sides, custom brackets, it fits right, I don't care that the lines don't match up, at this point i'm gunning for doing something someone hasn't done AROUND HERE. Appreciate the searching, right now if I can just get in contact with that guy to see what direction he went on the brackets i'm good to go.
