Hi, im new to the forum and i just got done changing my dad's radiator because it cracked.

before i ask the question. FYI i searched around the forum using the honda tech search engine and could not find any thread that is on the same situation.

so the car is a 1996 honda accord AT 2.7liter 6 cylinder engine. and my question is that the car's fans both turn on when the A/C is on but the cooling fan never turn on ever when the A/C is off. so is this a problem? FYI: my temp gauge stays right below the middle mark.

please if you know the answer or if you can take me to the right thread please do!!!

One fan is run by the A/C only, so it will only turn on when the A/C is on. The other helps cool the radiator at stops or idling when the radiator is not getting air when driving.

 

exactly but my question is both of them turn on when the AC is on but when the AC is off both fans turn off but the driver side never turn on(not the AC one) when idling or at a stop.

 

Ok, using my 95 4 cyl, the 3rd gen's and the 07 pilot. BOTH fans should run when the ac is on, BOTH should run when temp gets warm. Only ONE runs when car is off and engine is above preset temp (~224 or so, can't remember).

Given that both run when ac is on, we know motor is good. Check the relay's as to why only the rad cooling fans runs when car is on and temp gets high...

 

Sorry about that I am a little dyslectic. Have you checked your temperature switch? It could be the problem.

 

My car has the same problem. When AC on the fan comes on, but when the AC off, the cooling fans never come on. did you find what the problem was?

 

I had the same problem with my car ending up being the fan control module. It's behind your glove compartment. Check that and see if it's ok also check the relay in the fuse box under the hood.
