when car is cold, car starts up fine, but once the car gets hot, it will randomly start. KOEO- dash lights come on. also, d4 light comes on and turns off at the same patternt the CEL light. if i turn the key to start it, sometimes all youll hear is a click. you have to keep trying it untill car finally starts. what you guys think it is?? neutral safety switch?

 

well it can be the neutral switch but wene its hot and it dosent want to start hit the starter with a hammer once and try to start it and if it starts its the srarter and if it dosent its something else

 

ok. ill try that. i mean, i can hear a cliking under the hood (relay) but there isnt power to the starter. i will use my volt meter to do some testing. thanks for the quick response

 

Put a test light on the small wire going to starter ( the one that plugs up , not bolted down) The test light should glow when then switch is help in the crank position. If it does then most likely you have a bad starter. If it does not try moving the shifter back and fourth while holding the switch in the crank position and see if the neutral switch is working.
