Break In Period?????

Default Break In Period?????

ok, my motor is being put back together this weekend and we got a new (stock) clutch with it as well. My question is how long do i have to wait before i can get on it??? does the motor have to have time to break in or is it just the clutch that needs to break in??? thx guys i don't wanna have to do this over!

general rule of thumb is 500 mile break in period with a new clutch...take it easy(less than 3500rpms) and alternate rpms as much as possible. ask your installer though...

Motor and clutch needs to be broken in...700 to 1000 miles for the motor, no rev over 4K...500 miles for the clutch per shea-bird

at least 1000 for the motor....my friend took it easy for 2000(built b20)...never can be too sure...and 500 for clutch, city driving

Vary your vehicle speed but keep the engine speed below 4,500 RPM...Take your time and check your oil often...If you don't have an oil pressure gauge, get one as that is the only thing keeping you from having a blown engine...Take your time and allow the engine bearings to wear in...Change the oil with regular oil after 1,000 miles for the next 3,000 miles...Clutch will be broken in by then too...If you blueprinted your engine on the loose end then you will not need much of a break-in...Race Motors are built with loose clearances to be ready to run 100% with no break-in...
