01 Accord Auto transmission problems
The tranny in my 01 Accord VP 2.3L was just about to give out. Had to rev high just to get car moving. and would not go up any incline from dead start. Original Tran was a BAXA.
Was getting occasional codes 0720, 0730, 0740.
Got a JDM Tranny and installed it all with no prob. I think it is a BCJM, but not sure about that code since it isn't in front of me. Swapped the two shaft sensors from the old tranny to new.
Now engine will not start (cranks OK) and I get the flashing "D" indicator with code saying "Manufacturer Control Transmission".
I know about the campaign notice on the '00 and '01 Accords for trans problems but too late for that.
PLEASE HELP!

I am not sure if this is the case, but I do know in the accord family with manuals some use a crank sensor to indicate crank position. Could this be an issue with the difference in transmissions or maybe something not hooked up or position improperly?
This one is an auto. There is a crank sensor on the other end of the engine. Was going to replace it soon anyway. But just strange that the engine failure comes after the tranny installed. Does the Tranny even have any inputs that affect the engine running???
"Manufacturers Control Transmission" only means the scanner doesn't know what it means.
1773 is the linear solenoid B. Which controls pressure for smooth shifting.
It is the twin long solenoids with the square bolt pattern.
Make sure the plugs are on the right one, they are different colors and the harness plugs match. If they are right then B is the top one. Ohm check should be 5. And make sure the pins haven't pulled out of the plug.

Obd2 really should give a code for the engine problem unless it is something very basic. Before after trans r&r could only be pinched harness or something unplugged.
Thanks for the input night. At least got it running. Gotta get a gasket for the linear solenoid and swap it with the old one. The one on the JDM appears to be bad.
Good call!

Well, I swapped out the linear solenoid and put on a new gasket. Solenoid is back to the factory one. But still get the same 1773 code set. Have reset it several times, but it just comes back. Don't understand it since that connection is now back just like it came from the factory. And it never did that before the swap.
Any thoughts?????

Finally got it all fixed. The connectors for one of the linear solenoids and the solenoid directly below it use exactly the same connector and had them switched.

and for next time, keep in mind when doing that stuff that if you just let the harness fall, the plugs will be next to where they go. Like a molded heater hose the harness takes its shape in the heat.
