I know it's better swap first... Dump the handicap a3.... But why fix when it ain't broke? I rather get a charger that wil work for the a3 n whatever I end up swapping into the ep3... Whenever I break the darn thing..!?

Just want to see how many have done it with high mileages... N what to look out for... Thanks

In my opinion, it depends on what your goal and budget is. If you have cash for it, just do the swap and FI it. But, if you do have some budget restraint, you can just do the JRSC(or similar) and just be happy with what a3 has to offer. There's a lot of discussions in ephatch and they do offer great insight to what you're looking for with various routes to FI'ing.

As for your question, yes it'd be okay, assuming you don't go too crazy with up'ing the boost too much. And don't go too SC happy all the time; higher the boost, and more you push, you'd heat it up real fast and Kaboom; detonation... Also, there's the belt slip issues, but I think it depends on how its tuned and/or maintained after the install.

In my case, I ended up doing the swap and I am very happy with it.
I did have a plan for a SC, but opted out for NA build. Decided to sell my car, but I think I'll keep it for now.

GL with Fi'ing!!!

Yes, you can do it and the A3 is pretty good despite what a lot of people say.

As cloumep3 stated if you are on a budget restraint then just supercharge it and go either with the race or street setup. The race setup is more, but you do get more power.

To prep the motor just do a tune up and make sure you don't have any issues prior that's all. Its safer to be supercharged then to go turbo especially on a motor with high mileage.

Good luck with your choice.

Blah blah blah. Run a compression test to see if your motor is still making healthy power. If you have low compression and boost it, you'll get more blow-by and you'll be disappointed with the power numbers.

Actually you'll be disappointed with power numbers from a supercharger anyway. Just ask Type-Spaz.

Mother Fu$%er haha

Yeah supercharger is fun but definitely has it's limits. But I've owned two other turbo Hondas and I figured I'd go a different route this time. And MONEY was a huge factor since a good sidewinder turbo setup will run anywhere from 3-6k and I picked up my charger brand new for $1600. But if I had to do it all over again I'd probably swap to turbo again. It still crosses my mind but just no funds and I'm to antsy to save up enough.

But I love my supercharger. Plenty enough power to get in trouble and pass any cars at the blink of an eye. The instant boost is unreal... but I have a k24 swap so not sure how much power you'd throw down with an a3...

From what I've seen with others with SC's coupled with A3 motor, safe to reach 200 ish hp. Of course, if you go all out with smaller pulley and boost up, you'll go past 200 for sure. But, not too much higher... Swap and SC, above and around 250 hp safely, without having to go through 2+ trannies like somebody up there, LOL...

200 is plenty.... I'd love to have 200 to the wheels.... hows the turbo lag with the turbo set ups.. Ive never had a turbo on any of my cars so I dont think I'll ever mess with it....

I had a greddy kit on my old EM1 w/o intercooler and, although it was only pushing just under 8 lbs., I did have a little lag. But on a straight acceleration race, it was an awesome rush. Then I got used to it... lol.
But, if you want an instant boost and no turbo lag, I'd go with SC.

lol that was a fast response. It's all good man, I respect what you've done and your car definitely makes sick power.

It all depends on what you want at the end of the day. There's pros & cons to both setups.

But for higher mileage cars, the compression/leak down test will tell you how healthy your motor is. Start with that. My old DC2 B18b Integra had 130k miles before I boosted it and the compression was down about 15% across the board compared to a new motor, but it was still a blast.
