Default 245/40-18s on a 1st gen

Anyone ever fit 245/40-18s on a lowered 1st gen? I have a 2000 5 speed 4wd, and I'm about to lower it. I currently have 225/50-17s on 17x8s, but I'm considering the 18s on 18x9s or 9.5s. Tire Rack's Plus tire fitment guide says 235/45-18s, but I'd like a bit more width and the slightly smaller overall diameter of the 40 series (26.3" versus 25.7").

Not lowered yet. Still OEM ride height, and the winters on the OEM wheels are on it right now.
