delSol pictures from Solo2 Nationals?
Greetings all!
Running in the recent 2002 Tire Rack Solo2 Nationals in Topeka, KS there was a Honda delSol that trophied - in DMod - against 250hp 1200lb. RWD Lotus Super 7's and the like...
I find this very interesting since I tried the same exercise two years ago and... well... at least didn't finish DFL.
Harold Knobel is the owner, Ron Williams is the local co-driver... and he TROPHIED.
It was probably the ONLY red delSol there at Nationals.
If ANYONE has details or pictures about this car please post them or forward them to me. Supposedly he has the car's weight down to 1400lbs. and as of last contact he still street-drives it.
Gotta know!
Thanks!

I know the car you're talking about. I find it difficult to believe that the car is still street driven. I don't believe the car would pass inspection in any state. It has no roof/ windows/windshield.... gutted is an understatement. I have pictures of that havn't been developed yet but othere than that I've seen no pictures on the web...

Yeah, it is a loooong way from streetable. It is prepared like all of the other mod cars in the class, gutted and chopped.
BTW--it has a B18B in it.

I saw that car...didn't get to see it run though. got a pretty trick (or basic, which ever you prefer) rear suspension. he took out the subframe and is running a live axle much like first gen crx's.

The red starlet is one of our local guys, Tito Solis (I get some of my car work done at his shop). Anyhow, locally it's a very fast car and they just did that red paint job in time for the National Championship (Graphics by Arie Villasol). His shop has put together some amazing cars that sometimes get TTOD but they run in our Open Street Prepared "catch all" class. I'm not sure why he placed so low at Topeka.

Krazy, I wasn't the one that said it was a B18B
Obviously the Valve Cover would suggest a DOHC VTEC B16 or B18 motor, as they don't fit on LS/B20 Heads.
The Driver Number and Class correspond to the Solo2 Nationals results registry, so I think this is the real deal.

yea i know. it was someone else up there that said it was a b18b. no worries.
i kinda wanna try autocross sometime, but it looks like ill be buying a lot of new things if i really get into it. just like drag racing is... anyway looks like fun, maybe i should go check it out sometime.
much respect for a car that can go fast, and go fast while turning too!

People said it had a B18B when at nats this year. Perhaps he changed motors since that pic. Anyhow, either he disabled vtec or it was a non-vtec motor, because from the sound it definitely did not have a vtec engagement. I personally saw/heard the car run.
