Tells me My SOHC ZC is "Illegal" because "All JDM motors are illegal". Dumbass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My SOHC passed smog 3 weeks ago. This is the second time the cop pulls me over and refs me. What a dipshit, has to be a dick because he was bullied and has a shitty car in his past and now has to make up for it by being a dick to people like us who love cars. i don't see any problem here but wasted time on your part...just make an appointment to see the ref and walk out a winner...they ain't got anything on you unless you got other non-carb legal parts...!!!

carry the paperwork in your car that shows you passed so the next time you get pulled over and they hassle you, you can show it to them.

 

Two Hours a day kills my entire day, I have a business to run and huge networks to manage so my time is very expensive. Dealing with this bullshit is extremely annoying and irritating.

^^^ I'll second that, I got pulled the other day because of my exhaust and I didn't even take it past 3500RPM (hella quiet) dude just saw a lowered si with rims and **** and wanted to make a point. So you should probably get used to it, yeah it sucks, but it is what it is.....

It comes down to the laws are a bunch of bullshit, you obviously didnt do your homework fool... I know all about carb and all the stupid money making schemes (laws). Any engine is legal as long as it is the same displacement and is from the same car or newer. It also must pass smog. So your also another misinformed fool. SOHC ZC's are LEGAL, DOHC are not legal because they wont pass smog.... I already made the appointment with the REF.

For the record... I was pulled over in Perris. I didn't do **** except fit a profile, that was enough to be pulled over.

 

I had the same problem, just make sure the exhaust is quieter then 96 Decibels which is the legal limit. Thats what I did and now when they try to give me a ticket I tell them the exhaust passed noise pollution test by 2-3 Decibels, If they can't test it they can't give you a ticket for it.

Both ZC's are illegal because they will fail the Visual inspection, not because they will not pass the sniffer test. The DOHC ZC is more obvious because there isn't a US equivalent to inspect to.

I'm wondering how the cop was able to tell that your ZC is a JDM engine unless he looked up the engine code. Did you have other illegal bolt on mods that caused him to look further past the freaking radiator hose to see the engine code? Without any mods, most smog shops will just smog the SOHC ZC as any other D16A6 because they don't care to look at the block or just don't know.

Fact of the matter is that the LAWs are LAWs. Your ZC is an ILLEGAL swap unless you have a BAR sticker for that particular motor. Just because you pass smog doesn't mean anything.
