Default What to use to clean winter salt and grit off headlights

My '99 Accord gets so much winter road salt and sand on the composite headlight lenses. What is the best and safest thing to use on them. I don't want to rub the debris into the lens covers!

polish them with a foam pad, da, and some light polish like m205 or menzerna sip polish

get something to neutralize the salt first... and give em a good wash with water and soap.. then claybar them... if they are hazy and/or yellowish, then you can compound and polish them
