ebay coilover sleeves-93 civic-need advice
So i have a 93 civic dx coupe.
Its on stock shocks with skunk2 replica coilover sleeves.
Im looking into getting new shocks, kinda interested in keeping the sleeves since
their adjustable. Or should i just buy lowering springs? i want it to be significantly lower than stock but i still want like 4-5 inches ground clearance, where as my sleeves make the car maybe 3 inchs (measurements arent exact, all i know is i cant get a standard size jack underneath.
so any suggestions on affordable streetable struts and lower springs (or keep the ebay sleeves)
im open to all opinions and advice.

i contemplated PMing you since i saw you respond to mad posts.
hey, first thing, the coilover sleeves, i didnt buy.
really the sleeves are slightly decent, should i just get some new struts?
and my budget is roughly 500-750 tops, 600 would be pushin it.
ive thought about the koni/gc route, how much would that be?
and is it come as a kit with everything i need??

Yea, sometime I have noiithing better to do then sit on HT, But I dont always respond to PM's.
Not to be a dick but they arent replica's, they are ebay junk.
Koni/gc is around 799 shipped. It would come with almost everything needed. You will still need to reuse your Stock top hats unless you want to buy GC top hats or other ones.
Function Form type 1's would be around $600, not as good as koni/gc but a hell of a lot better then what you have now.

those $50-200 ebays ride rough. you can fix this by preloading them a tad and riding low air pressure. i get 34 miles per gallon and i gotta get out and walk over big bumps.

for around $600, you can get a set of Progress coilover kits. There is a sponsor on here that sells them. That's what I'm gonna get for my coupe...soon.

To put preload on slip-on adjustable coilover sleeves, you end up usually much higher than the desired ride height. Not to mention, preload WILL NOT affect ride quality in any way, shape, form, or fashion. None. Zero. Zilch. Nada.
And lowering air pressure? That's just a bad idea all around. It wouldn't affect ride height in any noticeable amount. Gas mileage would be WORSE (higher rolling resistance with lower tire pressure), and the tires would cup and wear in all kinds of crazy uneven patterns. Only time I would EVER recommend lowering tire pressure below factory specs is if you're racing at the drag strip, and that's it.

what are you talking about man? i don't know what that other guys is doing but im going with koni shocks and gc specific sleeves.. i wasn't planing to mess with any strut pressure and anything or tires.. my car is too low for me now i dont mind if the sleeves will make it sit higher, im rolling on 13 inch steelies any how.

I wouldn't recommend polyurethane suspension bushings, though. Maintenance is a PITA compared to OEM or aftermarket hard rubber bushings, not to mention they don't last nearly as long as rubber, despite the bushing manufacturers' marketing attempts to make you think they do last longer. You may not have mad rattles, but you will have MAD squeaking if you don't maintain poly bushings almost on a monthly basis, if not more.

Koni STR.T's (orange) are built like most other aftermarket OE-replacement shocks, with welded spring perches, etc. They're probably the best sport-oriented aftermarket shock in the $300 price range. I personally would NOT use slip-on coilovers with STR.T's, though. If you do you would have to use the standard GC sleeves.
GC sleeves for Koni are for Koni Sport (yellow) shocks only.

dude where do you see that price?? The only thing I see are individual Koni shocks for $145 each (not a very good price) and Koni GC's for like $350 (not a great price either). Priced that way makes it $930 for a Koni/GC setup, which sucks.
well **** 930 is rediculous, i need em to be like 700 lol

Oh wait, just saw this thread in the Marketplace. Says they're running a sale on Koni/GC and to send PM for pricing.
They also have a Stage 2 kit that comes with front top hats. I wouldn't get the Stage 3 with all 4 extended top hats. You really don't need them in the rear. But if you're not going slammed you really don't need them at all. I was "moderately lowered" (not quite slammed I guess) on Koni/GC and used stock top hats all around on my Integra and never had a problem. That was with 380/450 f/r rates.
