Default 3" V-Band my ***... not happy!!!

WFT
ordered the new billet 6765 BB with V-band T3 .82ar non water cooled... told it was a 3" v-band outlet so ordered the rest of the exhaust stuff at the same time same place

All the stuff turns up.... major hard-on being hosted... send hotside off to be Zircotec coated.... 2 weeks later it returns

AND THE DAMN V-BAND AINT 3" MORE LIKE 2.75"..... Not happy wasted money on v-bands i dont need and exhaust parts i can do without... plus time.

where can i get a v-band that will fit as i ordered one for OBX and the **** is wrong as well, its a 3" v-band with a 2.75" hole....

any light on this?

i have a t4 6765 journal bearing and all i used was a 3" v band off ebay, not the obx ones because one side is machined so they fit together tight. Just a plain old 3" v band flange.

The T3 uses a 2.5" vband clamp and flange.
The T4 uses a 3" clamp and flange.

90% of the company's selling the t3 units advertise them as 3 inch though. I learned the hard way like the original poster

Never assume. Always confirm and ask before ordering. Just a good rule of thumb to go by

I had some kid act like a smartass on my buddies FB page when I brought this very subject up. Glad i'm not the only one that was confused. I was told that you had to get a special flange from precision for the vband housing, I guess the "special flange" is just a 2.5" vband clamp?

Reading it in the for sale add, and confirming it on the phone is far from assuming.

It wasn't that big of an ordeal for me though. I hadn't ordered a downpipe or flange to fit my setup, as its all made here in house. I grabbed a 3 inch v-band off the shelf and come to find out it wasn't 3 inch, so i just had to go grab a 2.5 inch v-band setup off the shelf and revise my plans. Easy fix

ive got a vband flange from atp that works. i was going to use it on my 6262. it was a perfect fit and allows a 3" pipe to be fit over and welded on. will take 25 shipped for it, its $39 on atp where i bought it.

I know from a few vendors, they list their V-band based on OD size...

The last Precision turbo I got was a 3" V-band (even states on the box), but it was 3" OD. This eventually meant that the V-band was actually a 2.5" ID V-band. Big mistake!

Always confirm, or at least order the matching flange from the same vendor. There are so many turbos out there that use all sorts of V-bands of all different sizes.

actually incorrect, the 2.5" does ALMOST fit but the 2.5" will reduce/disturb flow as the outlet of the housing is bigger then 2.5", i run a 4" exhaust and the old precision turbo sc61 T3 had a 3" outlet even...... having this turbine housing feels like im going a step back now as its only just larger then a 2.5" outlet

I did a lot of checking around on this when I was ordering stuff to put my 6265 (t3) into my setup. Luckily, dealing with Mike Radowski I had a vendor who really went the extra mile to make sure I had the right stuff for the project. I ended up with a flange from Precision, as I recall the dimensions were just a tiny bit off from the standard ones, and I didn't want to risk a leak...

I'm sure the Shodan and others on here provide similar levels of service!
