Default Side curtain air bag

2007 civic coupe

Does anyone know if the headliner is ruined when the side curtain air bag deploys. i am looking at buying a car that has had the right curtain bag blown, but i need to know if the headliner might be ruined. I can not see the car, only photos of the outside and may not get a reply from the seller soon.

Thanks

This is not a Civic, but it should work the same.

I replaced all the air bags in a Honda Fit the other day and the head liner had no damage from the air bags deploying. However this was a Fit not a Civic. I would assume it would be okay.

thanks guys, i was finally able to get a pic of the headliner, and it IS damaged. i can repair it though. should be fine.

Update 12/11/11: I bought the car in late January, 2011, and the headliner DOES get damaged during airbag deployment. It had approximately a 3-4" tear in it where it is tucked in behind the b-pillar trim. the trim has a special one-time-use clip that is designed to hold the trim in place when the bag blows. the headliner gets caught by the trim and tears at that location. I was able to strip the fabric off, fiberglass the headliner back into shape and recover it with fabric. Looks like it never happened. One other thing to check for is damage to the antenna amplifier that is mounted behind the airbag (right side bag). The terminal on this car was damaged where it plugs into the amplifier. The cable from the amp to the console had to be replaced. Only about $10 at the dealer.
