2002 Accord Keeps Stalling
I'm at my wit's end with this problem. My 2002 Accord keeps stalling on me, and nobody has been able to identify the problem. I will tell the story with as many details as I can remember, and hopefully somebody out there has an idea or two.
12/5 -- I'm driving along and the engine just stops. I attempt to restart the car, the engine cranks but does not start. After ten minutes or so, I'm able to start it again
12/27 -- It happens again, exact same thing. I leave it with a body shop, but they cannot recreate the problem. They drive it several times with no luck
12/28 -- I pick it up from the body shop. Within 10 minutes, it stalls again. I bring it back to them, leave it for 3 more days, problem does not appear for them
1/3 -- "Check engine" light goes on, stays on all week
1/6 -- Car stalls again, this time in my garage as it's warming up
1/8 -- Car stalls again. I bring car to Pep Boys to have them investigate "check engine" light. They replace catalytic converter and rear oxygen sensor
1/9 -- Car stalls again, this time on highway. Car slowly begins to de-accelerate before completely shutting off. I return to Pep Boys and leave it overnight
1/10 -- "Check engine" light comes on again, while mechanic has car. He replaces front oxygen sensor. Takes car for 10 mile test drive. Nothing happens.
1/11 -- Car stalls again in morning. "Check engine" light comes on again in afternoon.
This is making me crazy. I'm afraid to drive at this point. Anybody ever deal with this?

Sounds exactly like the ignition control module ICM located in the distributer.
The problem begins as it heats up.
Then the ICM loses connection and dies as it can no longer provide spark.
After that the car will not start until the ICM cools off and makes connection again.
Sometimes the Main Relay can simulate this as well.

I had a similar situation myself and it ended up being the dizzy.
Buy a can of 'circuit freeze' spray at any electronics store. When it happens again, spray the components in question - one at a time - and see which one is causing the problem. Replace that component.
As for the O2 sensors and catalytic converter - I don't think they would cause this type of issue.
Let us know how you make out.
