Default Installed radiator, now overheating

Installed radiator with 2 of my friends, but when I drove back home, the car started raising in temperature.....What might it be?

We plugged back the radiator hoses and the tranny oil hose as well. We put 50/50 mixture of coolant and water as well. How much does it take to fill up the radiator?

Also, when I shut off the car and take the key out the fan continued to spin. Is this suppose to happen when your car overheats?

The fans are supposed to spin.

Are you leaking any coolant?

Is your thermostat new?

The fan continues spinning after I took off the key...I thought there would be no electricity going there if I take off the key....

It was leaking coolant with the old radiator...When I got home, I did not see any leaks...

I am using the same thermostat as before...It should work properly since it was 1/3rd up for most of the time.... then past 30 minutes, it started to rise....

I think more fluid. the fans will spin if the motor is too hot whether the key is in or not. that's how its suppose to work.

so, the fan question is done with, but overheating is the weird part....

I will definitely add more coolant into the radiator tonite...hopefully that will solve the problem....

The weird thing is the draining of the coolant was less than the amount we put in...

Also, am I suppose to use distilled water instead of faucet water...We didnt mix coolant and water together...We just Poured in coolant first then the water...

Make sure that you have bleed the system as well. If there is a small amount of air in the system and the pressure is not enough then the car will start to overheat. And make sure you have the right amount of coolant.

Thats ok.

Otherwise, it sounds like it could be the thermostat if there is no leak anywhere.

Well bleeding requires connecting a bleeder pump machine. But you can flush it yourself.

lol dont listen to him.. First off if I remember correctly you have a h22 in your 4th gen right?? Well right over the thermostat housing is a bleeder screw. What you do first is take off the radiator cap and fill it up all the way till it reaches the top. Then start the car and take of the radiator cap.. (This also lets you know if your thermostat is working properly) Next keep on adding fluid till its starts to bubble up then put back on the radiator cap. Next up on the bleeder screw. It should be like a 10mm nut with a hole on top. Rev the engine constantly for a few seconds then let off. You should see fluid coming out of the screw everything you let of the gas. Do that for like 3 times then close back the screw and take it for a test run..

If you begin to see the temps rise again you can temporarily put the heat on full blast this will bring you back down and then you can repeat the process again.

If I didnt bleed the system, will the car overheat?? because of the air trapped inside???

Yeah after a while it will cause the temps to go up.. Its because the system isnt getting the right pressure. The process should still be the same for the f22b, so dont worry about it.. I used to have the same problem, but then I had a leak from my connections on the heater core..

Thats just getting ride of air in the system, not really bleeding it. You need a machine to pump out old fluid and pump in new fluid for a proper bleed.

launchpad....getting rid of air in the system = bleeding

pump out old **** while pumping new **** in = flushing

pop the bleeder valve, sounds like you have air in the system.

I guess I have them backwards. But he said to bleed, so I figured you need to pump it when its actually flushing. Its all in the description.

doesnt surprise me. A lot of the times your service advisor knows less than you do about the car. The are hired for their elite typing skills. Talking to the technician is the thing you wanna do.
