Default DIY Strain Guage Shifter

Hi guys

Friends of mine have a Drag BMW E30 here in South Africa.

We looking at building a strain guage shifter to use with the new Dog Engagement gearbox.

I know T1 offers a Vgate starin guage shifter for Honda's but the BMW will require some custom work.

It retains the H-pattern shifter

Any advice/help/contacts would be appreciated

i dont know how all the engine management stuff works with a strain gauge.

but you can probably just buy a strain gauge and contact cement it to the shifter. in college thats how we mounted them to objects and then it was just two wires coming off the gauge to whatever device we were using to measure it with

You don't necessarily need the strain gage to make it work. There are other options as well as long as you have the right EMS to make it all work. You can use limit switches or linear potentiometers as well.

On my car I used a strain gage and a linear potientiometer to achieve how the power is cut and reapplied.
