Need to start layering security for My R and LOOK WHAT I FOUND!
Auto Taser
Introducing an automotive security system that is on the defensive. The AUTO TASER is the first anti-theft system to actively punish any thief who tries to tamper with your vehicle. Simply lock the AUTO TASER on your steering wheel and arm it with your coded remote control. Only you can activate/deactivate the AUTO TASER’s electron field with your rolling-code remote control. If the AUTO TASER’s ultra sensitive vibration detectors sense an intruder, a screeching 120 to 130 decibel alarm is sounded as a warning before aggressive countermeasures are initiated. Five seconds later, a field of electrons completely surrounds the unit. Any attempt to touch the AUTO TASER zaps the thief with an unforgettable, yet non-lethal 5,900 milliwatt (50,000 volt) electron.
• AUTO TASER Model 54000 Includes:
• Remote Control
• 3 Shims for Different Size Wheels
• Insurance Reduction Certificate
• 2 Window Stickers
• $199.95 each

hey I've seen that before in an old issue of CAR (that euro mag). I don't think is legal in this country. But its cool as hell anyway

unfortunately you can get your *** sued like hell if a theif gets hurt with that things. sad but true.
It's a pointless piece of security. I saw a segment on CNN about it a while back. The thieves just got in the kaa, pushed the seat back, and kicked the taser, and it broke right off the wheel....

Damn! Thats cool as ****! I want one.
As far as liability, it says "non-lethal" and it also gives a warning tones. So I really doubt you'll get sued.. but then again by that time, I will have my glock armed and ready to fire.

I used to have one of those. I bought one after multiple theft attempts on my car. I don't believe I paid that much for it though.
I bought a house (w/garage) shortly afterwards and stopped using it. The siren is pretty loud if you're in the car with it. The lock doesn't seem to be of the highest quality. At night time, once you set it off, you can see blue sparks jumping across the surface of it... very intimidating. I never could get up the nerve to touch it.
It uses 9V batteries and runs through them pretty quick so it's fairly expensive to run.
Unfortunately, I finally threw mine away a few months back after almost two years of non-use or I'd send it to you.

This might be totally off topic, but do you guys remember in Robocop 2 in the beginning of the movie.... where they always have some stupid commercial or something... and they had this kinda dumb thing about something similar to this... but the only difference was that... it had rings that locked around the seat and shocked the crap out of the theif.....
I know it was off topic, but that reminded me of that.....

What happens if the attemp is spoiled by the shocking thing and the theif getts pissed?
he'll take a hammer and lump up the car!
Don't use that thing

I bet it is legal in Texas.
-Tommy who wants the south african flame shooting alarm. Hopefully it is tapped into the stock gas tank so not too much extra added weight on the car

how about..take your ecu out, make a fuel cut switch aside from your alarm, an actual hardwired dedicated switch on the fuel pump, a regular alarm, and a autolock/club.....

Tis very true you can get sued for that. In Pennsylvania last year, a thief was attempting to break into a house through a window in the ceiling (the name of them escape me at the moment, sunroof - whatever)... anyway, as he was coming through the window, he slipped and fell onto the island in the kitchen and cut himself badly on a knife.. in the end, he was arrested for attempting to rob someone, yet ended up making more money by sueing the people for something (negligence) and WON in court.
see, this is a 2 sided debate.
one hand strictly legally speaking yes the judge may say you were at fault.
but like george says, in appeals i think a judge would throw it out and call the thief a moron.
You as the thief had no business being there, you were not invited in...so thats that.
think of this as an example.
if a neighbor going bankrupt wanted to commit suicide, breaks into your house, goes to your garage and takes a drill and rams it right into his eye instantly killing himself...do you think a judge would award his kids and wife a settlement for it being on your property?

Even better "theft prevention". A 1/4" thick, by 1 foot square piece of plywood, with 8-10 3" small diameter nails pounded through it. Set it on your driver seat, nails UP, and lay a towel over the top.
I think the thief will rapidly loose interest in stealing your car when he has 10 holes in his ***.

DAMN, I want one. Now thats what I would REALLY want to do to someone trying to steal my car
