D15B7 block w/ D16Z6 head ?s
i have a 93 del sol si with the d16z6 in it ... i f'd up my botom end and now its knocking like crazy
.... i have a 95 d15b7 engine laying around... im thinking if i swap the blocks i can get the extra 2 months out of my car that i need till i do my real engine swap....
what i need to know is if that block and head will simply go together or will i need to have stuff machined (other than smoothing down the head)... (if thats the case then i guess ill look for a d16z6 block).... im not looking for performance gains or anything all i need is some extra time
anything i might be overlooking???
thanks

I'm not exactly sure, but you MIGHT have piston-valve slap on the exhaust side being that the cam lift/duration is timed and meant for 1.6 liters.
You should not have any problems putting that onto the motor and making it run, but reliability could be an issue as well as getting the timing right with making the sohc vtec head working with the 1.5 liters.
When timing it, retard your whole cam about 2° just to make sure the exhaust valves to not hit the pistons. You can always retard your intake timing, you just will have very shitty HP (but that's not important at the moment).
Hope that helps
