Replacing Trailing Arm Bushing 97 Honda Civic - No special tools
We just bought a 1997 Honda Civic LX. Needs alot of love and parts replacements, so money for a special tool is not in the budget! However, no special tool is needed for replacing the rear trailing arm bushings! Temperature outside is a chilly 32 degrees F....we tried everything, then I picked up the small hammer (small roofing hammer) and tried tapping it out evenly along the edges....it worked, tapped that little booger right out of there! The new one went right in the same way...tap, tap, tap on the left and tap, tap, tap on the right until it is in up to the line!
A 10 minute job each side! Amazing! It could've been the temperature outside, it could've been the PB blaster we sprayed on it to soften it up some....but the new ones are in and all we used was a small hammer!
I just thought I'd share that with all of you....you DON'T NEED the special tool!

What you just said has been said a million times, well now a million and 1.
But what mcvtec said is very true, mine were a complete pain, i ended up getting pissed off and droping the trailing arm.
Oh yea, you know you rent the tool for free right? You pay depost and it is returned when the tool is.
